Alan's Bio
I began asking my parents to play the violin when I was two years old. By age four I began taking violin lessons. In high school I was part of the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony and travelled both nationally and internationally, performing in some amazing venues, such as the Sydney Opera House. During these years, I became very passionate about classical music. I studied violin with Jeri Jorgensen at the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music, where I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance. I also studied in Milan, Italy at the Accademia Internazionale della Musica with violinist Carlo Feige. For graduate school, I attended Colorado State University and held positions of 1st Violin with the Graduate String Quartet and Concertmaster of the University Orchestra. I studied privately with Dr. Ron Francois.
After I finished my studies, I moved to Castle Rock with my wife Mary Anne (who I met at DU...she too studied violin at Lamont). We have lived in Founders Village since 2010 and have three children: Elizabeth (13), Judah (11) and Wonder (5), who we homeschool. I have been teaching private violin and viola lessons full-time in Castle Rock for over 15 years. I have also founded and directed the Castle Rock Youth Symphony and a youth orchestra at Denver's Korean Christian Church. I conducted DC Downbeat here in Castle Rock, as well as sectionals at Mesa Middle School, Douglas County High School, and Regis Jesuit High School.
